November 20, 2010 Update

Nov-20-2010

November 20, 2010 Update Hello Music Lovers! Happy Thanksgiving! Dale and I are thankful for loyal fans like you who support our love of music and performance! Tonight we are playing again at the luxurious Intercontinental Harbor Court hotel in downtown Baltimore. www.harborcourt.com It overlooks the Inner Harbor and is the only 5 star hotel in Baltimore. We love playing this gig! The walls and ceiling in the Explorers Lounge are painted with murals that keep me interested each time we’re there. The sofas, overstuffed chairs and fine furnishings make me feel pampered. The delicious Chef Salad has me salivating while we travel for two hours to arrive. The Harbor Court offers valet parking, or there is parking available along the street and in nearby parking garages. We’ve been playing here once a month for a year and a half now. It’s nice to get to Baltimore to play and we are grateful for the opportunity. We are scheduled to play there December 18th, as well. With the Christmas season upon us I want to remind you of our newest CD, “Playin’ in the Alley”, which we released last Spring. It is our sixth recording and we believe it is our best. It opens with “Satin Doll” and “I Got it Bad (and That Ain’t Good)”. Our most requested song, “Crazy”, is included along with “Keeper of the Stars”. Dale has three instrumentals on there with the fabulous drummer Alan Dale and bassist Tom Baldwin. Oldies but goodies like “All of Me”, “Come Rain or Come Shine” and “Sentimental Journey” make it fit like a glove in the library of any Old Standards lover. You can hear samples on our CD Baby site: www.cdbaby.com/cd/rhondaappleanddalebritt . Copies of this CD or others can be purchased either online at that site, through us directly or at any of our gigs. Give the gift of music! Two other big gigs coming up are New Year’s Eve and January 13, 2011. First, for New Year’s Eve we are playing once again at the stately Atlantic Hotel in Berlin, Maryland. www.atlantichotel.com This lovely hotel will have us in the formal dining room area of the Drummer’s Café from 9pm to 1am. The room is perfect for what Dale and I offer: Old Standards, love songs, oldies, Patsy Cline, showtunes and the like. Come prepared to eat a sumptuous meal with beautiful music, slow-dance with your favorite partner and ring in the new year with style. Call for reservations: 410-641-3589 And on Thursday, January 13, 2011, Dale and I are excited to be asked to play at the famed Avalon Theatre in Easton! www.avalontheatre.com We’ll actually be playing upstairs in the Stoltz Listening Room starting at 8pm. With seating up to 60 this room is an intimate venue just right for our duo. Beer and wine will be available for our two 45 minute sets. Tickets are $20 each and can be ordered at the box office, 410-822-7299, Tuesday through Saturday, 9am to 2pm, or at www.ticketmaster.com (for an additional fee). Making up the set lists for this gig will be a joy! We’ll include plenty of favorite Old Standards, Showtunes and Jazz flavors to thoroughly make it worth your while to venture to Easton on a cold, winter night. There are many great restaurants in the downtown Easton area one could partake of before the show. I hope you do just that and make it a special evening you will remember for a long time. We are anticipating a very rewarding experience! In other related news Dale is playing keyboard with Shore Jazz on three Saturdays: Nov. 27, Dec. 4 and Dec. 11th, 7 to 10pm, at their regular gig at Beseme in Lewes, Delaware. www.beseme.biz I hope to get out to hear them myself because the menu looks amazing and it’s always good to hear Dale play with other groups. The restaurant is located in the Hotel Rodney on the corner of 2nd and Market Streets. Call (302)645-8108 for more info. We’ve been booked to play at Cripple Creek country club for Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011. The Atlantic Hotel is considering having us back for Valentine’s Day, but it is not yet confirmed. As for the Phillips Beach Plaza hotel, our “home” for the past twelve years (and Dale’s home for 21 years before that), we don’t know what will happen for 2011. There has been a sort of change in management and we know that there are “big plans” for the updating and cleaning of the building. Honestly, we don’t think anyone really knows what will become of the Piano Bar. So, we will not waste any time worrying about things we cannot control. IF we still work there next year we will, as usual, humbly be grateful for the job. If not, then we will trust that God has other plans for us. Either way we expect to have the monthly gig at the Harbor Court and there are possible gigs in Crisfield as well as return engagements at Cripple Creek on the horizon. Dale and his wife are taking a much deserved trip to Aruba for Christmas. I’m so happy for them. Please remember the reason for the season: It’s all about the baby. God sent His only son, Jesus, to live humbly in human form among us, and ultimately, to save us from our sin. We hope to see you at our upcoming gigs so we can put names with faces and shake your hands to personally thank you for your support of us and live music.
