April 17, 2019 Update

Hello Music Lovers,

With springtime, Easter and chocolate-covered peanut butter eggs come gig bookings and the need for another update on Apple & Britt. Seriously, we received the majority of our summer bookings (thus far) in just the past few days. Moreover, I just picked up my order of the Easter-inspired, chocolate-covered peanut butter eggs after work today. It’s supposed to be a fundraiser for the women’s group at my church, but I don’t take orders. I just buy a bunch and enjoy giving them away to co-workers, friends and family.

Dale and I spent the whole winter not knowing what our summer schedule would look like, wondering if our days of gigging were over, but trusting in Providence. You must understand, I keep busy year-round with my day job in property management for affordable housing communities. And I have truly enjoyed having my weekends off all winter, not that I have had uneventful or boring weekends. Isn’t it funny how free time fills up quickly with social events and chores?

Nevertheless, on to the gigs we have booked. You can see them all listed on our website: www.rhondaapple.com/appearances.cfm

First, we will return May 25th to the piano bar at Ocean 13 Restaurant in the Beach Plaza Hotel, 13th Street and the Boardwalk in Ocean City, Maryland. That piano bar is like home for us, having played there together since 1999. Dale played at that piano bar another twenty years before that! We are honored to be asked to return every other Saturday throughout the summer. I suspect the hours will be 7 to 11pm, like before, but check back to our website appearances section to be sure.

Ocean 13 Restaurant; www.ocean13ocmd.com has all their information. Call for reservations if you plan to have dinner: 410-289-6210. Their menu has several seafood and steak options at upscale prices and large portion sizes. Smells very good to me!

Next, we will be on call every Sunday afternoon. If the weather is too wet for bands to play outside at Windmill Creek Vineyard and Winery, they will call us to play the piano INSIDE, 5 to 8pm.  We played there on April 7th and had a nice group of listeners who also enjoyed the wines. You can order food to be delivered from a local restaurant, if you like. This restored farmhouse is oozing with three years of love and charm to get it restored to its glory. The piano is an antique but the sound system is state of the art, connecting all rooms in the house and two speakers outside of the house. The address is 11206 Worcester Highway, Berlin, MD. It’s near the intersection of Route 113 and Route 90. Their website has all the details: www.windmillcreekvineyard.com

Come support a local, small business just getting off the ground. Their wines are getting rave reviews. The venue will soon be busy with weddings and events, too. You will love it! Keep an eye on our Facebook page for last minute posts on wet days!

We do have a gig scheduled at Windmill Creek on Sunday, Sept. 29th, as well. You can PLAN on that one.

Finally, from 6:30 to 9:30pm on Sunday, June 2nd, we have been invited to entertain at Cuvee Ray Wine Bar & Restaurant, 236 Rehoboth Ave., Rehoboth Beach, DE 19971.   (302)567-2942

Reservations are highly recommended at Cuvee Ray’s if you want to have a table to eat. There is a small bar but the seating is not spacious. Needless to say, this place serves many wines by the glass. I am certain your best "wine snob" friends will love it. But your best "foodie" friends will love it, too. Bring them both! I would love the opportunity to enhance your experience at this CLASSY & UNIQUE establishment.

Thank you for taking the time to read my newsletter. It takes me a lot of effort and focus to get this done and uploaded. And, if you know of any large households of five or more people who need affordable housing, send them my way. I struggle to find eligible tenants for our three and four-bedroom units, which seems strange when I read in the news about the lack of affordable housing.

I hope you and your loved ones have a lovely time on Sunday, celebrating the fulfillment of Biblical prophecy in the life, suffering, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Because He lives I can face tomorrow with hope, peace and joy. Without Him I am lost and without peace, hope and joy. Those are the facts.
