April 2017 Update
Apr-16-2017
Hello Music Lovers!
An Apple & Britt newsletter is way past due, and I apologize for that. Time passes quickly, especially when you are employed with a day job and have several other weekly commitments YEAR ROUND. (That would be me, Rhonda, and not Dale.)
We are grateful for a steady gig in a perfect venue for what we do. However, due to slow business in years prior, Adolfo’s was forced to push back our start date for this year until Sat. May 27th. We will have the following two weeks off, again due to slow business in years prior. Then we will begin working Fridays and Saturdays for the summer starting June 16th. I just finished posting all those gigs on our website under the Appearances tab. I am happy to announce that this will be our sixth year to work for Kim and David Griffin, owners of Adolfo’s on the Ocean in the Beach Plaza Hotel, 1301 Baltimore Ave., Ocean City, Maryland. Here is their website: http://www.ocadolfos.com
Be sure to check them out on Facebook, too. On the boardwalk at 13th street, Adolfo’s has a beautiful ocean view and has plenty of parking. The phone number for reservations is 410.289.4001. I do recommend making a reservation if you want to be certain to dine and hear us in the Fireside section. The main dining room is lovely, but it doesn’t have us. Another alternative is to sit at the piano bar directly and order from there through the bartender. Sometimes we have a cocktail waitress assisting the bartender. Sitting at the bar in the Parlor Lounge is your option, as well. You see? One has options when it comes to hearing Apple & Britt’s music. (Let me tell you a secret: you don’t even need to buy anything to hear us. Just come and sit and listen. No purchase required. Really. But it does not ensure a future for Apple & Britt at the venue.)
As always, Dale and I love to take your requests. I make sure to provide several copies of our extensive song list, post-it notes and pencils on the piano bar just for this purpose. Apple & Britt want to entertain you and make you feel like you are part of the show. Our goal is not to BE the show, but to enhance your total experience at Adolfo’s.
At this time, Apple & Britt do not have any other gigs coming up other than Adolfo’s on the Ocean.
However, we will play for the annual fundraiser for the Furnace Town Foundation in October. It is an outdoor dinner and auction at Furnace Town, which is just outside of Snow Hill, Maryland. Here is the website: www.furnacetown.org
We are honored to be asked to play this gig again. Investing in preserving local heritage is important for future generations. I think the date will be October 14 or 21. Keep checking their website to be sure.
Always remember to check our appearance dates on our website before planning your visit to come hear/see us. We do take vacations from time to time. The second weekend in July Rhonda will be absent to attend a family reunion, and Dale Britt will hold down the fort playing solo jazz piano.
Apple & Britt are available to play your special function! Just check our calendar first to make sure we are not already booked, and then call Dale Britt to make your inquiry: 410-546-3027. We can play background music or do a show for your guests. We are flexible and want to cater to your needs. We can even compile specific songs to be played while we are on break, such a Big Band, Disco dancing music, and more. Book us now for best availability, because prime dates do get booked far in advance.
Apple & Britt CDs are available from us at our gigs, and on www.cdbaby.com/Artist/RhondaAppleandDaleBritt . You can hear samples and post a review of our music at this site. Our Facebook page has a section that links directly to these, as well. Furthermore, Dale Britt has a jazz piano solo CD and DVD available. Recorded November 2014 on a beautiful grand piano before a live audience, Dale gives excellent performances of some of his favorite jazz classics and originals. You can buy these from Dale at our gigs, or call him and request one: 410-546-3027. He is known as Ocean City’s legendary jazzman for a reason, don’t you know.
Until we meet again, as the clouds roll by, and as time goes by, I remain forever yours in song. (Yes, lyrics just run through my head like that.)
Rhonda Apple
