Hello Music Lovers,
This summer is working its magic on the plants and the local economy. After an abundance of rain everything is green and Ocean City, Maryland is in high gear. Apple & Britt are happy to be performing every Friday and Saturday at Adolfo’s Italian Restaurant, 7 to 11pm, at the piano bar. Adolfo’s used to be in a little, old house at the inlet, but since April of 2012 it has relocated to the restaurant space of the Beach Plaza Hotel, 13th street and the boardwalk. The owners, Kimberly and David Griffin, are delighted to now have parking and a gorgeous ocean view to offer their customers. As always, the rocking chairs on the veranda of the Beach Plaza are inviting you to sit and watch the people go by and the ocean waves. The marlinara sauce, meat sauce, cheese ravioli, and the salad are my favorite items on the menu. Vanessa, the regular bartender, is attentive to the guests around the piano bar and cocktail tables, where one can just sit and listen, or have a full meal, drinks and make requests all night. And don’t get me started on the desserts! It really is a kind of magic. The uniqueness of the combination of ambiance, food, music, view, and service is something to be treasured. Here is the link to Adolfo’s website: www.ocadolfos.com Here is the number to call if you would like to make a reservation for the fireside section where one can hear and see Apple & Britt perform while partaking in a delicious meal: 410-289-4001. We’ll be there every Friday and Saturday through the summer, and every Friday through the Fall.
On a few Thursday nights, from 6 to 9pm, Apple & Britt are performing at the Restaurant at Lighthouse Sound. With a Bishopville, Maryland address this venue is on the Assawoman Bay overlooking the Ocean City skyline. We perform in the main dining room which has a wall of windows to take in the view while enjoying culinary delights of Chef Tracey and his crew. We’ll be there July 11 & 25, August 8, 15, & 29, September 12, 19 & 26, and October 10, 17, 24, & 31. I suggest calling there to be absolutely sure we are playing due to other functions that tend to get booked and then we are not needed. It is a busy place, especially with weddings during the summer weekends. During the winter months Apple & Britt play various Saturday nights at this venue, switching off with the talented vocalist Suzette Pritchett, who sings there every Friday night during the summer and fall seasons. Apple & Britt are on Facebook under the title Apple & Britt. Other than our website, it is the best place to find out what’s new with us or leave us a message. We hope to see you at our gigs in the Ocean City, Maryland area. At this time we do not have any gigs booked elsewhere, but that may change, so keep tabs on us between newsletters by checking the website and our Facebook page. It is truly our pleasure to bring you the songs that you grew up with from Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Johnny Mathis, Nat King Cole, Patsy Cline, Ella Fitzgerald, Doris Day, Karen Carpenter, Dionne Warwick, Roberta Flack, Barbra Streisand, Carol King, and James Taylor. We are keeping alive the Great American Songbook with songs from composers Harold Arlen, Cole Porter, George & Ira Gershwin, Richard Rodgers, Lorenz Hart, Irving Berlin, Cy Coleman, Oscar Hammerstein, Duke Ellington, Vernon Duke, and Jerome Kern. We invite you to make requests from our songlist of nearly 700 songs. We love to enhance your evening by performing a special tune for your guest of honor. We are here to perform, but would rather enhance your evening at the venue as part of the entire package. We never want to upstage the chef or the waitstaff, because we are working together to make your evening memorable in hopes that you will return and tell others about your positive experience. Word-of-mouth is the best form of advertisement!
Here’s to you and to our next meeting. Stay cool. Support live music whenever and wherever possible. We appreciate you!
Rhonda Apple and Dale Britt
